You know, this almost feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy – Fidesz not believing they can win, so not doing much touring, so their own voters are rallied less and therefore actually don’t vote

I’ll break a lance for Orban here: as president he was busy so it makes sense he wouldn’t make as many tours as the opposition candidate.
A better comparison, perhaps, would be with his previous tours

I think this was probably the only way to overcome the media advantage that Orban’s party had.

And a few words to my European friends:
If you are still cynical about how much of an improvement Magyar is, I understand. However the majority of his party are activists, not career politicians. His supporters voted not for him, but for regime change. While I may have my doubts about Magyar myself, I trust in Tisza to steer him in the right direction.
16 years of Orban rule and total media control will take time to fix, but one thing he tried and failed to do in those years was turning Hungary against Europe. We are back! 🇪🇺

They just switched from one villain to another… I have exactly zero positive expectations

This is also about physical capabilities. Magyar did like 5 to 7 rallies a day, which is insane even for a young and fit man. For an old couch potato like Orban, even half that would have been a lot to ask.

Obviously Orban was to busy licking Putin ass.

I am not European, I am Australian. But this seems like a positive for Hungary, even if I do not know much about the candidates policies. In our country we can just keep electing the same party and there are not term limits. But when one PERSON gains too much power it can be a good idea to switch them out. At least, from the very little I know of what is going on in Hungary (I must once again emphasise how Australian I am, it is hot and slow down here) it seems like this could be good.
Or, at least, I hope it is a good for all of y’all. Must have been weird having a US vice president come and tell yoi who to vote for. Or, at least, it would be weird here.

I dunno but from an outside perspective it looks like a tired old man. An annoying old man with shitty politics.
