Basierend auf den Daten der American Time Use Survey zwischen 2018 und 2022,Nathan Yauermittelte, wie viel Prozent der Haushalte zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt aßen.
This is good, means all the Americans are in bed when the grown ups eat.

Never new it was wierd to eat 530 dinner… sometimes we get it out of the way around 5 honestly. Eating late fucks up my body clock

And it sucks because then restaurants all close at 8 or 9!!! We don’t eat until 8pm or later usually in my family cause I don’t get off work until 7pm. My whole life, even as a kid, dinner time is 8-9pm. It’s one reason I hated having a lunch break at 11am. That’s breakfast bro.

I just finished dinner at 6:42 when I read this. A few minutes earlier than average apparently. I wonder if this takes into account dinner/supper distinction in some places. I know people who make a time distinction where it is almost like dinner is before the newscast and supper is after.

I always argue with my SO about this. She wants to eat at like 7:30 and I prefer 6:00.

I get home from work at 7, my husband is usually home by 10:30, so typically I start cooking around 9:30 and we eat around 10:45 or 11. On days when he’s off, he starts cooking around 6:30 and we eat around 7:30 or 8. On days we’re both off we eat anywhere between 6-9 depending on what we’re having.

I always considered 6 o’clock late, I genuinely didn’t know this was a Maine thing. If I’m hungry, I eat. And if I get takeout after work, I don’t sit around and wait for it to get cold.

I don’t even get home from work until at least 5:30pm on a good day. I don’t see how it’s possible to sit and eat by 6.

I don’t think this is accurate. In Texas: dinner is served around noon-1:00, supper is served around 7:00.

Actually kind of surprises me that the east coast doesn’t eat later because with TV premieres often being tied to 8pm est or later you’d think they would drag out their nights a little longer than west coast people.

i would love to see this with some kind of cool way to see where the average dinner time lines up with where the state is vis a vis time zone boundaries. Like would there be a correlation with sunset?!

It looks like you’re confusing dinner with supper. In my world, dinner is a mis to late afternoon meal, usually on a weekend. Supper comes after work, school, and other daily activities.
