Opposition party projected to oust Orban in two polls
With polls now closed, an embargo has been lifted on polling results collected in the days running up to the election.
Two polls project the opposition Tisza party, led by Peter Magyar, to beat incumbent prime minister Viktor Orban and his Fidesz party.
Remember, these are not the results of today’s exit poll – we are expecting them between 7pm and 9pm.
Median poll projection
Tisza to win with 57% of the vote
And 135 of 199 seats in parliament
21 Research Centre poll projection
Tisza to win with 55% of the vote
And 132 of 199 seats in parliament
Fidesz to win 38%
The difference between the two projected victories is that Median’s would hand Tisza a powerful supermajority in parliament (133 seats or more).
Both polls predict a massive voter swing from the last election in 2022, when Orban’s Fidesz party won 135 seats.

It is important to know, that because of the high voter turnout, it is _possible_ today’s numbers will _slightly_ change late next week, when the last two groups of votes will get counted.
Of the four groups, only two will be counted tonight: in-person and mail-in ballots. The counting of these have already started, and the first statistically valid result come in in ~1 hour.
In-person votes by Hungarians living abroad, and those who chose not to vote at their designated voting place (usually the closest one to their homes) will only get counted either Friday or Saturday (most likely Saturday). Again, because of the high turnaround, it is possible we won’t have the final meaningful numbers tonight.
Clarification, because it’s likely needed:
Based on estimates, there should be around ~300.000 ballots left for Saturday. While this might not seem much, the total voting population is a bit more than 7.000.000 people.
We vote on a national list (which party do you prefer), and a local one (which candidate running in your area), and both can change next week of the difference is small enough between two candidates.

This would be the best thing happening to Europe for a long time.
Not sure Magyar will be the golden boy of Europe, but at least better than this Russian puppet in the heart of Europe. Ruszkik haza!

Orban will copy his buddy, Trump and cry election interference if he loses.

I’m so scared to get my hopes up. Walking my dog on the beach, so peaceful and all I can think about is fucking geopolitics haha. Sending love and strength Hungary
First they count the small villages, then the big cities. Then the out of district votes next week. So, it’s gonna get better.

What a day to be alive! I was in the countryside today, with the intention to prevent electoral fraud and it was a well organised and cheerful community event – the cheaters were on the fence, aggressive and anxious and we tried to make their job as hard as possible:)
So far, it seems that we have fucking turned the tide against all odds and reached over a never seen before 77.8%! participation rate – meaning a great chance for supermajority for the opposition party TISZA!
Rejoice, Europe, for your prodigal son has returned!
