Sometimes , in negotiation table apart from negotiating countries, who is mediator also matter the most

    2. Looks like Iran won’t back down from tolling Hormuz and nuclear enrichment even in return to sanctions alleviation. I guess we’ll need to wait and see how that plays out for them.

I mean – when the „mediator“ literally does not recognize the statehood of one of the belligerents – what other outcome did anyone expect?

They could’ve just left the JCPOA alone and none of this would’ve happened.

A government by idiots for idiots.

A typical negotiation would seek a compromise but both parties aren’t interested in that. Either Iran gets its way or the US gets its way, there’s no in between.

That’s my observation at least. I don’t know what needs to happen to finally make one side capitulate, except once the Hormuz situation becomes a larger crisis that forces action.

    6. As expected.

The two sides were too far apart. This really shouldn’t surprise anyone.

The question for the Trump admin at this point is if they just walk away and claim „victory“ (for something), or double down on escalation, like seizing some islands in the Strait or bombing Kharg.
