Decoupling Canada from the US economy is a great thought and there’s many ways we can promote this, but I think most people need to dispel the myth that we will not perpetually be tied to the US in every economic sense; there is only so much we can do in terms of divestiture and we must be pragmatic with how we treat the US.
Carney has been decent at that balancing act thusfar, Poilievre has leaned too much into economic realism (at the point where he is sacrificing any sort of idealism or vision), and Avi has moved the NDP too far away from this reality.
Additionally, I do think the government ought to be devising more policy to catalyze investment domestically, though that’s a smaller nitpick.
