Das Melanom ist die gefährlichste Form von Hautkrebs und entsteht aus pigmentproduzierenden Melanozyten aufgrund von DNA-Schäden, vor allem durch UV-Einstrahlung.
Africa is surprising to me. I thought Africans would have lower rate of skin cancer due to melanin.

Despite temperatures being over 40°c (104°f) in summers and hardly anyone using sunscreen, it is surprising to see less cases in India.

It has also a lot to do with sun bathing, which is very popular in western countries and pretty much absent from the culture of many Asian countries.

I know the Boomer generation in the USA just seared themselves on the beach during their childhood, teen years, and young adulthood. Maybe they would use baby oil, or a small amount of actual sunscreen to allow themselves to tan dark without blistering. It wasn’t until the 80s that public health told people sun screen was a necessity.

Us chalkies should really wear more sunscreen more often. My snowy skin suit is no exception in this regard and should be treated with some zinkoxide paste more often.

This is not the melanoma rate but rather the melanoma DEATH rate, isn’t it? Tiny difference.

This scale fails to recognise Australia’s excellence in the field of dying from skin cancer. We demand a darker shade of red.

Brazil’s law of averages doesn’t really show the situation of the country. Northern part of the country has very low rates, southern part has very high rates.

Sunscreen in Brazil seems to be made of gold flakes and fairy dust and with faceted diamond packaging, it’s extremely expensive. No Wonder why is so high here
