„WASHINGTON, April 10 (Reuters) – When JD Vance arrives in Islamabad for talks on Saturday with Iranian officials, it will fulfill a wish for Tehran’s remaining leaders, some of whom have quietly sought the U.S. vice president to take a lead role in negotiations to end the war, according to several sources familiar with the matter.

Iran ‌views Vance as one of the most anti-war figures in President Donald Trump’s inner circle, said one regional official and four people familiar with the talks.

That reputation, long a fixture of his political brand, has led Tehran to believe Vance is the most likely among Trump’s close associates to seek a deal in good faith, said the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomatic matters.

There is no indication Vance would adopt a more accommodating negotiating stance than any other representative sent by Trump, who has threatened to renew the U.S. bombing campaign if talks fail.“

Hungary with Orban before an election to Pakistan for a peace conference. Strange detour.

Why is Jared Kushner involved? And Steve Witkoff has been proven time and time again to be out of his comfort zone. Seems like Trumpy doesn’t expect much or wants that toll money.

JD has to pull a royal flush out of his ass in order for this to go well for his political ambitions. If he gives too much away for a shitty deal it’s an albatross that Trump will pin on him. If he fails to get a ceasefire Trump blames him for any further conflict.

I just don’t see a world where JD negotiates a deal that makes America First, the neocons, and MAGA happy.

When will anyone learn there is no rational, good or qualified member of a Trump administration? The fact some people still fall for this is almost scarier than the admin itself. I can give Iran a pass if only because they’re in Iran. The American people? They get no pass. The ignorance excuse has long since dried up. You got the disaster you voted for.

    6. I’m gonna put $5 dollars on Iran convincing Vance to invoke the 25th and them becoming the ones to actually achieve regime change.

I bet the deal is going to be something like ‚Iran gets everything it wants, but they have to put on a dog and pony show to make Trump look great‘. Like they have to give Trump a gold plaque and they have to declare that Trump is a great leader and such.

Iran wants to negotiate with Peter Thiel. Palantir has tools useful to a totalitarian regime. Playing both sides puts Palantir in a great position to manipulate both sides of a long-term ongoing global conflict. Win-win. Of course they want JD.

Iran remembers the Iranian hostage crisis. They held the hostages long enough to tank Jimmy Carter.

There is also a belief that Iran agreed to work with Raegan to stall the release to help his team with the presidency.

I can only assume this first round of negotiations would be a fishing campaign for Iran to see if they can find a weakness in Trump’s inner circle that they can use to their advantage. This could be the beginning of Vance’s rise to succeed and undermine Trump… or it could lead to chaos if Iran praises Vance for being the adult in the room.

He’s going to walk into a negotiation room stacked floor to ceiling with couches. Not gonna be able to focus for sh**.

    11. Iran has also promised vengeance for the assassination of their Ayatollah.
Then they explicitly requested for Vance in negotiations.

Has absolutely no one thought Vance could be walking into a bazinga here?

Honestly „the longer this war goes on, the more we have to talk to JD Vance“ is a great motivation to get negotiations done quicker.

People make fun of Vance a lot, but he actually reminds me of the Yeltsin-Putin dynamic. While Yeltsin was loud, clumsy, and prone to mistakes, everyone overlooked Putin because he seemed so calm and composed. I think people might be underestimating Vance. He might be more dangerous than Trump in scary way.
