Kanada kann nicht so tun, als wäre Amerika immer noch der Gute; Die Lehre aus dem Iran ist, dass unser engster Verbündeter möglicherweise nicht mehr die gleichen Annahmen über richtig und falsch teilt

Iran had to go
Walrus thinks iran is right? 😮
I mean, Iran is not a nice country. Yes many people are nice but the government itself is very much not nice. I am not saying that the US is a hero, but let’s not be on team Iranian government here
Right, we totally are okay with government murdering their protesters, running proxy terrorist groups around the world, and lobbying for the complete genocide of an entire culture/people. How could we possibly think they are anything but the good guys, when they were unjustly attacked by America after protesters for 2-3weeks cried for help as they were slaughtered. Like people honestly think Israel has a right to not eat rockets everyday? Super weird. How dare they stop dying…
Yeah, I think we figured that out when Trump threatened to annex us and take over Greenland „whether they like it or not.“
Anyone who thinks Iran is the good guy has been drinking to much.
It takes Iran to make the author question USA’s moral compass??
Where was he with the whole Iraq/Afgan invasion and their “weapons of mass destruction”??
Canada turns a blind eye to US’s international shenanigans, up until the 51st state annexation threat that we started to care.
Things we learn as children. Adults call it „diplomacy“‚:
Do not yell.
Share your toys.
Do not call your playmates dirty names.
Do not hit your playmates.
Dont know if the author has looked at a map lately, but the United States isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It was JFK who said “what unites us is far greater than what divides us” and I still believe that’s true, despite you know who.
i would rather side with USA than Iran…
Remember what Kissinger said.
America is a fascist regime.
We haven’t really shared the same assumptions about right and wrong since I was born 40 some odd years ago
Not even going to bother reading the article because no shit Sherlock. Thoughout my entire life, the United States has never once been the good guy.
If this was written in 2016 I’d be interested.
We are always one American election cycle away from chaos so we must conduct our affairs through that lens. Neighbours but not necessarily friends – it’ll take some time to rebuild that goodwill.
Thinking of international conflicts as „good guy vs bad guy“ is embarrassing, childish, and wrong
We’ve been trending opposite directions for 20 years
Regardless of anything, attacking the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism does not make me think any less of America being the good guys.
The illusion was shattered the first time that idiot was elected. Not that a lot people were under that delusion then, either, but Trump has laid bare the lie.
But the fact is that our own government isn’t really any different in the grand scheme. These guys have stopped working for the people and they stopped a long time ago.
What we have to do now is wait until one of two things happens. Either the corruption of the politicians reaches heights so unprecedented that there’s a revolution or we let them destroy it all and then rebuild.
Canadians don’t care whats happening with warlords in Africa, conflicts in Middle East, dictatorships in China and North Korea and many other atrocities. People will keep saying not our problem, but then whos problem is it? You would think responsibility would catch up to our arrogance, but then again we are just spoiled from our Geography.
And yes I do believe we should also fix broken country first, so that we can do more on the world stage; but then Liberals are polling the highest in a decade, so I don’t even think people want to fix our country.
There is no fuckin hope
Ugh!! Please!!! The US. Is no longer the shiny city on the hill! I am old enough to remember when Canadians wanted to run there for work and a better life. Now we are accepting their doctor’s, nurses, scientists and professors and entrepreneurs, because we are a stable economy with tax benefits for professionals.
Don’t get me started on the 12 new trade deals our prime minister signed in 7 months to seperate us further away from that fawking chaos!
There’s no „good“ side in that conflict, from where I’m standing. I can’t even say „bad“ and „worse“, because they both suck so much. I’d be fine if any/all those countries just *ended*. I feel bad for all the innocent civilians getting bombed; and, less so but still bad, for the soldiers who aren’t ideologically „on-side“, and just wanted to go to college without massive debt. I can only hope this ends with regime changes all around.
There might have been a couple clues before this.
The knowingly elected a man who doesn’t know right from wrong or doesn’t care one bit.
Have you watched Carney speech we aren’t pretending we are keeping calm and moving on.
It’s been like that for way too long. US is one of the primary reasons for most of the destabilization in the world since world war 2 except a few that were caused by others. Fk USA
Good guys? Who cares if America, the EU, or any countries are the good guys? Trade and military relationships are based on mutual benefits.
Carney spoke about that in his speech referencing the “illusion”.
I mean, we’re not really in much of a position to speak on right and wrong given the state of the country. Our world refugee camp/ economic zone experiment has been a tremendous failure. Maybe if we can get Canada back to where it was a decade or two ago, we will then have the currency to shyte on the US. Pointing at how bad other places are doesn’t make our shitty situation any less shitty.
