    1. Who gave James Geoghegan and John Dallan (and their fellow travellers) the right to hold this country to ransom? To claim to speak for Ireland, to threaten the viability of business and the livelihoods of others? Who do these people think they are?

Geoghegan also called on Martin to step down as Taoiseach.

“Micheál Martin is actually not in control. The **people of Ireland are in control**,” Geoghegan said.

“**We have every motorway roadblock, every business shut down, and this is going to change Ireland forever**, because the people of Ireland are literally sick and tired of being bullied and robbed for years. And it’s it, and that’s the mandate we have.”.

Why does everyone else’s business and personal life have to go to the wall for these folk?

Does each industry sector get to decide to shag the rest of the country whenever they require a something from the government?

The extreme of this is Doctors and medical professionals deciding not to treat anyone until their demands are met? But this doesn’t happen, strikes and protests are carried out with a level of respect and care for the rest of the population.

Why is it generally farmers that always seem to be the ones protesting, are they just better organised then other groups? It feels like as is most politicians pander to the farming sector at least on the surface

Such a pathetic response from the government, these people should be in jail already.

It’s not a peaceful protect, it’s an aggressive, threatening action and its targeting ordinary people – not the ultra rich or the elites or whatever they think in their deluded minds.

Where are the fucking army. The promised deployed troops last night. Where the fuck are they. I want to see these fuckers on trial on Monday for sedition. This has gone on long enough.

    6. Turbulent-Tumor on

They get to threaten the entire economy but when there’s mention of Army rolling in to move them on it’s considered extreme.

      Makes sense

Mad that we’re all suffering this because Americans elected a paedophile felon for a second time.

    8. What I’ve learned so far in these threads is that an awful lot people don’t know the difference between „then“ and „than“. Hard to take someone’s point seriously when they can’t spell basic words.

James Geoghegan, convicted animal abuser and tax defaulted, does not speak for me and needs to fuck off. He wants to subvert democracy and force elections till he gets exactly what he wants, himself in power.

Making peoples lives miserable is just part of his game plan.

So crash the economy and kill people in hospitals. Time to end the blockade and jail the leaders.

Announce some further measures; give them six hours to clear, then arrest and impound whoever remains. Alternatively, tell them civilisational erasure is on the cards otherwise and Praise be to Allah.

Ireland exports the vast majority of its agricultural produce, with estimates showing that around 80-90% of beef and dairy products are exported.

While we all agree that fuel prices are high, it should be pointed out to these protesters that they don’t represent the people of Ireland. They only represent themselves and an industry sector.

    14. I’m sorry but this pisses me off. I work in a centre for adults with learning disabilities and a lot of them travel home on community transport. The thought of them sitting on a bus for hours feeling tortured trying to get home angers me. They have no grasp of stuff like this and they will feel so confused at the whole thing.

    15. newphonewhodis1899 on

I mean it’s clearly not a protest anymore? The country is being held to ransom by the workers who take the most hand outs from the government couldn’t make this shit up. Drop the fuel price as low as you can go. Then let’s drop the farmers‘ subsidies as the money has to come from somewhere.

    16. The government can’t even really lower the prices if they wanted to, it comes from an EU directive level…

Walkers are achieving nothing but turning the public against them.

If only there had been someone in power with the vision to end our dependency on fossil fuels

    18. I would encourage anyone scrolling to watch the Prime Time interview (linked below) featuring the Public Relations Officer of these pricks, James Geoghegan, and tell me if you share his sentiments about blocking oncology appointments.

Some of us might die but that’s a risk he’s willing to take to get his ridiculous demands met. Fucking shameful stuff.

18:00 if you want to hear this utter gobshite telling the most vulnerable of us to get fucked until he gets what he wants.

I’ll just be going snails pace in front of the next tractors and haulers trucks I see.

They won’t ram me despite they’re acting the billy big balls.

People with the loudest mouths seem to get to rule Ireland these days, not going to end well if the do nothing government caves. The government should be lowering the price of electricity and pushing through with wind turbine developments. Give people a cheap alternative to oil.

    21. Right. Then what?

What do you expect from this in a week? Or two. Or a month.

    22. SirKillsalot on

How long before we get to…

*Citizens (mobs) will remove you and your vehicles by force, if necessary*

      Considering government isn’t doing anything?

    23. This is a far right coup attempt masquerading as a farmer’s protest. They should be arrested, their vehicles confiscated and turned to scrap.

Every one of these degenerate scumbags should have their licences forfeit so that they are taken off the road for at least three tears.

Always nice to see the inherent contradiction of these arseholes saying that they’re incredibly necessary and need corporate welfare, but can simultaneously threaten to sit on their holes for a month and underpay other people to do their jobs for them, showing that they’re drains on the economy.

All that stuff gets exported anyway, so they provide exactly jack shit for the country, while causing us to pay to compensate for their incredibly low carbon tax rate, despite being massive contributors of carbon emissions.

It might be time to end the corporate welfare system in this country, because these lads are taking the piss. Sell one of your 100-150k tractors and you’ll be fine. We shouldn’t have the country held hostage by some rich dipshits sucking up EU subsidies and taxpayer money, whille they provide nothing of value, and throw a fit at the expense of every other worker in the country that activity contributes to it.

I’m all for lower taxes but freedom of movement should be respected.

No idea why they are closing roads in the midlands.

    27. Was interested in the Fendt that is at the forefront of the O’Connell blockade and found an article about the owner Richard Chambers of Chambers agri.

They have a fleet of 12 tractors and combine equipment including the Fendt 939 purchased for €223,000 plus VAT to work approx 4500 acres of arable.

You’d feel bad for the poor mega contractors

Let’s be clear here the Hauliers are getting a fairly hefty rebate so far

      supports provided so far include:

increased Diesel Rebate Scheme (DRS): The maximum repayment under the Diesel Rebate Scheme has been increased to 12 cents per litre (up from 7.5 cents).

Backdated Support: This enhanced rebate is backdated to 1 January 2026 and will remain in place until 30 June 2026.

Reduced Excise Duty: A 20 cent per litre cut in diesel excise duty (and 15 cent for petrol) was introduced.
NORA Levy Reduction: The National Oil Reserves Agency (NORA) levy was cut to a nominal amount for two months.

Temporary Grant Scheme: A separate Licensed Haulage Emergency Support Scheme provided a payment of €100 per week for 8 weeks for each heavy goods vehicle (over 3.5 tonnes).

In total, these measures provide qualifying hauliers with an immediate reduction at the pump of 22 cents per litre (excise + NORA), plus the additional 4.5 cents per litre benefit from the increased rebate scheme
      Plus they don’t pay VAT

This all includes paperwork which they don’t like
