In English, I was always taught to place the most important item at the end of a list for emphasis. I guess it’s obvious what she considered most important.
From the article:
„Marilyn Gladu crossed the floor from the Conservative caucus to join the Liberals because it was the “best thing” for her riding, the country and herself, the Sarnia MP said Thursday night in Montreal.“

She’s not lying about doing what’s best for herself, that’s for sure.

The best thing for her riding would be a bi election.

Then resign and run in a by-election to see if your riding agrees. This should be mandatory for anybody wanting to change parties mid-term.

For the most part I haven’t had an issue with any of the floor crossings. But this one just doesn’t really sit right with me.

This is one greasy floor-crossing, for both parties.

Surely it should be her constituents who decide what the best thing for the riding is.

Bullshit. Let’s have a bi election, see if her people still think shes the one. Pretty sure her politics career is over.

This is so fucking odd because it makes zero sense for anyone apart from the fact that it put’s an LPC majority in stone.
For Gladu, nobody is ever going to trust her again, anyone can look at Hansard and see what she has said in parliament this year about the Liberals and you’re going to try and tell everyone that you believe in the core values? Total BS.
For the LPC MP’s applauding this, their own constituents are going to look at this and say „well hang on…you’re now allowing pro-conversion therapy and anti-abortion people into the party?“ and it’s going to dent their own credibility.
and for the PM, yes – it get’s his majority but now he’s put himself in a position where the questions about him accepting Gladu into his caucus given her views are going to keep mounting. Him saying that she has committed to voting with the government on those specific issues will probably not be enough for some of his own MP’s who are no doubt furious that the tent has grown this large this fast.

Step down and run in a byelection. Prove you’re representing those who elected you. Grifter.

I’m not sure why Poilievre keeps doing this. Does anyone know why Poilievre keeps pushing people out of the Conservative party? I thought everyone loved his leadership. Did he rig the leadership review? Is he getting draft picks from this? Why isn’t he skilled enough to retain his own people?
Poilievre never should’ve used the backroom door deal to get a seat in another riding. It was offered to him because Carney desired weak opposition. It’s being proved in real time.

She’s doing it for herself. Ive been whatever about the other crossers, but this one *stinks*. Liberals should absolutely not accept her in their caucus – this one is a bad look.

Her riding voted for a far-right grifter, and the thing about grifters is that they don’t actually believe in any of the crap they spout and will say or do whatever they think gets them ahead. Next time vote for a respectable human being maybe.

Anyone in her riding complaining about this doesn’t realize she just became one of the most powerful MPs in the House. Whenever a vote comes up that only the Liberals are supporting, she will be able to leverage hers to get other things she wants. She’s likely already decided not to run again, which means that is not something that can be used against her as leverage.
Her constituents will benefit more from this than if she’d become a government MP had the CPC formed government.

She is a liar and has betrayed her constituents. A vast majority of people vote for a party rather than an individual and to say otherwise is disingenuous.
