  1. The figure is in USD. It’s C$1 billion. Unfortunately my previous post was removed as I modified the title to reflect Canadian dollars.

    This is really cool. I hope it works and it doesn’t just help Canadian companies scale and then bounce out of Canada.

    RBC stands to generate significant profit, from using a third-party venture capital model. It’s not their money or risk, but profit, yes.

    So this is legitimately a good non-trivial step, but it alone will make only a small difference tbh. We need multiple instances of things of this scale to really make systemic changes in Canada.
