      >Washington outranks Beijing as a threat in Spain, Italy, Belgium and Germany, according to POLITICO Pulse survey.

      >Only 12 percent of those polled in March in Poland, Spain, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy saw America as a close ally while 36 percent saw it as a threat. By contrast, China was seen as a threat by 29 percent of those polled across the six countries.

Sure hope it’s only the fact that China is a threat to APAC nations and is preoccupied there. But yeah, the Trump admin is destroying a legacy of 70y of soft power.

Wow apparently threatening to invade Europe has consequences. Who could ever have predicted that outcome.

    3. EveryPen260 on

This administration is really changing perceptions.

When people feel more comfortable entering China than US borders  that’s a problem.

US destroyed a lot of soft power. Now everything is transactional.

100% US is more of a threat. just keep china out of our telecoms infrastructure and don’t really have an issue with most of their shit at nation security level

    5. omnipresentatio on

China was never a threat to Europe, we have been absorbing US propaganda for too long

China is ran by people whom, at the very least, know how to run a country.

What we have seen in the past years from US and American companies that they are allergic to following European laws due to Main Character Syndrome. And if they are found in breach they start to bully and threaten. After the ascendency of their pedo king, these antics have become transparent. And in addition to that he threatens to annex European territory (Greenland). So yes, Europeans see US as threat as we don’t know when we will get backstabbed.

    8. Mission_Scale_860 on

The US may have dropped a few positions but China is still at the bottom. I would rather take a bullying USA than anything remotely connected to the CCP.

    9. It isn’t a surprise, I mean it all started with it’s proud and deeply rooted history of slavery slavery.
They dropped not only one but two atomic bombs + being responsible for ALL wars in the middle east after 1945.
And threatening us Europeans to take land away for „Murcia“?

      That’s not a friend!!!

With regards to Europe at least, China does what’s best for China, which is usually the status quo, trade stability etc.

America does whatever the moron in charge feels like doing at that particular hour.

    11. Not surprise. To average European, China is far-off distant country that is kinda problematic but is not actively threatening to start a war.

Meanwhile, US is actively throwing shit at Europe, published a paper saying their goal is to break up EU, threatened to invade one of the European countries and is actively abandoning it’s allies and alliances, all while treating them as vassals.

Gree, I wonder why US seems more like a threat than China?

    12. China is more predictable and stable than US in these years. They are both threat to Europe, but one can predict what China will do and how China gonna react. However, no one, even Trump himself, knows what he gonna do tomorrow.

    13. China is in not all but many ways a theoretical threat to Europe with many „what ifs“ that could eventually happen in the future, or differently, or not at all.

The US are (unfortunately, I have to say) a real and tangible threat to Europe’s security, economy, and independence right now.

Personally, I want Europe to be friendly with both, not to say opportunistic, but also keep both at an arm’s length as long as it is beneficial to our own interests.

    14. What a surprise. As far as I remember China is not actively threatening Europe with sanctions or invasion of sovereign territories

China is the most reasonable and peaceful superpower on the planet. superpowers are still bad, but they’re the best of a bad bunch

    16. At this point it’s debatable if US or Russia is the bigger threat. China is a distant third.

Let’s not fool ourselves, the CCP has imperial ambitions and has helped Putin in his „Military Special Operation“ of three days (and four years and counting) in Ukraine. The CCP would gladly flood Europe with heavily subsidized Chinese products and destroy our local manufacturing just so not to develop the internal Chinese market. The CCP would gladly threaten Europe each time we act a bit too cozy with Taiwan or anyone else the CCP doesn’t like. The CCP is not a friend of Europe, never was. But the CCP definitely took to heart the old maxim to never stop your enemy when they are committing a mistake and the USA are stumbling from a blunder to the next.

    18. ElTejon_TheDestroyer on

Absolutely they are. Interfering in elections, imposing themselves to stop regulating tech companies, trying to force their awful food standards, private medical on us all and undermining clean energy efforts.

Clearly they are more of a threat.

    19. slumberboy6708 on

As long as China does not invade Taiwan, I’m fine with them. The US can fuck off, I will never trust them again and will always refuse to vote for any candidate that shows even a little sympathy towards them.

    20. I mean they are at the moment in Hungary trying to push for breaking the european union, of course they are a threat

    21. maxis2bored on

      China has never threatened us.

Usa on the other hand have threatened with tariffs and invasion…. So are Americans surprised that they’re the bad guy?

    22. radiant-doll on

China makes all the stuff I use on a daily basis, the US produces only threats

    23. Money-Engineer6927 on

China is still a big threat to any nation just like USA. But Chinas plays the long run, watching naive and eager nations to self destruct.

    24. I’m glad that EU didn’t go to USA-Iran bloodshed…
We are fragmented but need to act more united and think about strong unity. EU should act out to world like one strong nation. But inside we need to respect each other. 27 languages protected nations that together are strong like USA or China.

      Best regards from 🇭🇷🇪🇺

    25. siggisiggibangbang on

Yes, that is true. I am more positive to China than US. US is as appealing as Russia.

    26. Well duh, the US has actively threatened us multiple times while China just want to increase trade with us.

It’s clear which of them is a problem.

    27. When was the last time China threatened the EU or any other country?
When was the last time America, or Trump, threatened to invade another country, and how many countries have they actually invaded?

It speaks for itself. The USA is a threat and an aggressor. China wants peace and development.

    28. russia tries to break EU, china tries to brake EU and with trump administration USA also pursued this same target. So no wonder here

    29. ITT: people who have no idea how China represents a massive threat to all Western democracy.

      Keep watching your Tiktoks…

Decades of American influence means most europeans would side with the US vs China even if they started carpet bombing brussels with B2s
