I have no idea, why people would use any of this stuff at the free personal tier. Do not use windows Home edition, do not get a microsoft account for your windows login at home.

Imagine opening your cloud storage and finding out strangers have been treating it like a group chat the whole time. That’s nightmare fuel.

    4. I assumed it was just my computer but it seems not. Also it took two clicks stop all notifications from onedrive so it was very stoppable.

    5. The solution to the problem is very simple.

Microsoft account only used for account log in.

Alias associated with Microsoft account set to not log in, only used for email and online accounts.

The Microsoft account stays hidden, no one can share a folder with you.

As long as someone attempts to share a folder with you alias, they won’t be able to successfully do so.

Honestly, this is how Microsoft should set users up by default. Allow them to create their login account, then require them to create a unique alias account to use for email and other online accounts.

This protects the login account from hacking, as well as any other malicious attacks. Especially if 2FA is enabled.

Can someone do the math on how significant „thousands of users“ really is for Microsoft’s user base?

Look at stupid teams bro! Like they copied kanbo, then removed it or some shit and now we have what, threads copy? Like fuck threads why can’t my stupid ass boss send me a direct message!

    8. Things like this are why I use a local windows account and Dropbox for my cloud storage. I have an LTSC perpetual version of Office 2024. I’ve been tempted to go Linux but the Office equivalents are not as nice when you’re used to Excel day in and out.

I don’t like the direction that Microsoft and the industry in general are going. Even Apple is not immune.

And I work with Microsoft everyday professionally in IT…
