    1. But I thought Trump said the job numbers have never been this high? That the economy was booming?

I’m seeing a drop in wages for my job. To young people who are considering a career in trades: there is no shortage. It’s a lie to suppress wages and it’s working. Currently there are 4 postings in my area for journeyman electrician. The wages vary from $30-$38/hr with little to no benefits and nothing for retirement. For reference, in 2009, when I was a 4th year apprentice, I was making $30/hr. When I got my ticket in 2010, I was making $32/hr. These companies are offering WAY less than what I made as an apprentice 17 years ago when inflation is factored in. It’s beyond frustrating.
