    1. >WestJet, Canada’s second-largest airline, said on Tuesday that it would add fuel surcharges of up to 60 Canadian dollars, or about $43, to some flights, a day after Air Canada, the country’s largest, [rolled out 50 dollar fuel surcharge](https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadians-to-pay-extra-50-on-select-air-canada-flights-starting-april-6-travel-agents-say) for flights to [warm weather destinations](https://www.aircanada.com/en-us/flights-to-sun-destinations?_gl=1*1vnqhus*_gcl_au*MTk2MzY1OTM3Mi4xNzc1NTgzNTE3*_ga*MTAwNDk0OTA5MS4xNzc1NTgzNTE4*_ga_CNZCQVF8JD*czE3NzU1ODM1MTckbzEkZzAkdDE3NzU1ODM1MTgkajU5JGwwJGgw). Porter Airlines, a smaller Canadian carrier, began adding a temporary fuel surcharge of 40 dollars [on award flights](https://www.flyporter.com/en/about-porter/viporter) in late March.

    2. So if I’m understanding correctly as fuel costs increase airlines are passing that added cost to the consumer? Wow, that’s really weird.

This sub will have a full blown meltdown but no one is cancelling or stopping their vacations/travel over ~50 dollar increase on there ticket.

Canadians love to vacation it is what it is. Flights are still packed.

The bag fees are ridiculous. I saw some cheap fares on Flair last week that made it basically the same as WestJet once you accounted for a carry on bag. Not a checked bag, a carry on. FFS.

    5. Remember when Airlines made money hand over fist for decades but had to come to the govt for a bailout during the pandemic cause they used all their profits on stock buybacks instead of being smart….I member
