    1. I hope that house is cheap af to build because if not see any other reason to make something so boring and uniform.

This is exactly what is fucking up our whole country. Every town has multiple, so ugly and zero character.

    3. That is the most basic „modern“ block house you can find just about „13 in a dozen“ all over Flanders. It’s more than likely just a „sleutel-op-de-deur“ house from a big building firm. Any decent architect can make you a better plan than however this one is built.

    4. I don’t mind the house, it’s also very efficient to have a blocky house from an energy point of view, but „cool garden“? It’s literally just a small grass square with ugly fences all around.

    5. Ragebait right ?

My dads house is in a traditional Walloon village with stone bricks, and they built a goddamn white cube right next to it. It’s an absolute eyesore…

If they want to build their horror ok, go make a whole village of these dystopian cubes in one place, don’t ruin everyone else’s villages. And I’m far from a NIMBY or a conservative. I don’t mind new houses or even apartment buildings. But make it visually coherent with whats around…..

Only a Belgian guy can say ‚cool garden‘ to a square patch of grass and a grey terrace surrounded by Betafence.

      „I want your plants“

What plants? All I see is a monoculture of grass. There’s not a plant in sight.

I grew up in a khrushchyovka in a post soviet country and even that building had more character than the modern white cubes you see here in Flanders 😂😂

This style of house can be done very well but it’s difficult to do and often turns out poorly and looking cheap. I would put this one in the latter. The „garden“ is giving prison yard

It’s still cooler than those fugly 1/100000 boomer bungalows next to it.

I like brutalist architecture too, but the flemish normies are attached to their regurgitated, inefficient designs

    12. Is this sarcasm.

This house looks like it would feature in Ugly Belgian Houses to me.

Looks like a minecraft built brought to real life. The garden looks like a dogpen. It must feel a bit like a prisoner inside no?

Bij provinciale overheden kun je goedkoop ateliers huren als starter.

      Dit lijkt daarop.

    15. If you like that, there is one in Humbeek (or Hombeek) that is like a big black cube – very striking

That’s the type of house I laugh at when I drive by in Flanders 😅 not my taste but at least it’s not painted black or grey!

It’s harder to find an architect that doesn’t design these concrete bunkers.

I don’t like em, they don’t fit in our country imo.

It’s quite nice, as they can apply esthetic later on the wall later.

    19. WalloonNerd on

Around where I live, the commune is selling old original war bunkers. They are often in a green field too, and as a bonus are very cheap. Just needs some work done on the inside. Might be your thing

    20. Did they hire an architecture school drop out for this one? Or did the developer let his 5 year old draw a house in Paint and then told the construction crew to make it a reality?
