It’s time to put a hold on all immigration in Canada until policies and technology exist to properly suss out fraud. Canada is not better for the last ten years of unabated immigration.

Geez. The scammers keep finding new ways to scam. Any sob story should have to be backed up with proof before any claim is considered, which is unfortunate because this would also increase burden of proof for legitimate asylum seekers

This is absolutely unacceptable. Everybody knows, making up bogus stories for asylum seekers is the job of immigration consultants.

I would imagine the criminals are getting exit assistance in their former country.

Immigration question: Have you ever personally participated in, ordered, or otherwise assisted in torture, persecution, or cruel treatment of others?
AI answer: no.
That’s pretty much our system.

Use an AI scanner and throw any application away immediately before it even sees a real person’s desk.

And also the government side is using AI to add fake details to immigration applications, and then deny them. AI is trash.

Any time I point to fraud within our system, the same ultra-pro-immigration Redditors infest the comments asking for proof. Have you no eyes? No capacity for observation or deductive reasoning? Do you selectively curate out all media that disagrees with your preconceptions?
That, or they make the bad faith conflation between calling for immigration reform and being racist or xenophobic. Tedious, to be sure.

We should only be accepting refugee claimants who apply from refugee camps around the world. The ones who can fly or have themselves smuggled into Canada are not the most at need, and have shown a willingness to cheat the system. That way we can do a lot of the verification of identities etc before they arrive, put an emphasis on families children w young children, those best suited to adapt to life in Canada etc.

Just remember the ones most hurt by fraudulent asylum seekers are the genuine asylum seekers.

When you are asked to „explain in your own words“ why you are studying chef or business in your late 40s and 50s and want to bring along 4 more family members and you are definitely not trying to stay, you bet AI would be put to use

The system keeps rewarding the wrong people.
