    1. Anyone with half a brain knows not to stand close to crazed pedo holding lots of weapons.

    2. Early_Retirement_007 on

Hell yeah – it has been a very one sided special relationship, time to reassess and perhaps leave.

    3. I don’t think we’re too close to the us as a nation but we have to have a better backup while the have the volatile wotsit in charge.

    4. Signal-Tangerine1597 on

Well yeah, it’s a shame it’s only 2 in 5 people don’t want to hang out with a nonce

    5. „More than 2 in 5…“

It was 43%. I mean yeah, technically right, but that’s still 2 in 5 to me.

Nah I think this is stupid. The US has gone on another misadvanture like they did in Vietnam so let them do there thing and tucker themselves out.

What needs to happen is that British politicians should be extending the olive branch to Democrats and begin to build relationships with them. We ALL know that Trump is getting electroally murdered in the Midterms and most likely the election in ’28.

The Republicans are screwed. They’re boardline unelectable in a few years time due to aging demographics and shifts in populations views (same as the Conservatives and Reform here). We should plan for the future rather than play Trumps stupid little games.

However we should at this time prioritize Europe and building relationships back with the EU.

Less than half… The majority of people think we should not distance ourselves for the US.

If it was over 50% that would be in the headline.

    8. Headlight-Highlight on

I suspect fewer than 2 in 5 Brits have any view/interest into the matter at all.

    9. Outrageous_Top_3605 on

We seem to be conflating two things here. Relationships between countries and relationships between individuals who happen to occupy offices right now.

Source, GB news. Well know for loving white nonces and rapists as long as they know the words for come on eileen.

    11. Only 2 in 5! Are the other 3 not paying attention to what the fascist paedophile is doing? 🤔

    12. Duvet_Capeman on

Should really be more, we stand to lose everything by tying ourselves to a failed regime.

‘Peace, commerce and friendly relations with all nations, and entangling alliances with none.’ – Thomas Jefferson

    14. > Only 18 per cent of Britons expressed a desire for closer Anglo-American ties.

That is the more insane statistic to me

    15. Due_Ad_3200 on

GB News reports – „The latest findings from YouGov saw 43 per cent of respondents backing a cooling of relations with Washington in favour of closer ties with the European Union“

Reform TV reporting that the public wants closer links to the EU.

    16. WaddlesLament on

“More than two in five”? So you mean half the people asked? FFS just say that

Edit: oh, it’s GB news. Well there you go

    17. PoodleN00dle on

What do 95% of Britons know about foreign policy? Nothing! They may have a view on Trump but that is not the same as protecting the long term interests of the country. This sort of article is pointless.

    18. roamingnomad7 on

Both sides seem obsessed about maintaining this mythical ’special relationship‘ that is always mentioned.

Neither side really cares nor wants it, so why bother?

    19. No_Shine_4707 on

So a significant majority of people in the UK dont think the UK should distance itself from the US then.

    20. This is less then 50% which is a surprise as I’d have thought the majority would be feeling this way

    21. MajorDisillusionment on

Is it 50% of Brits or not. What a bizarre way of phrasing it.

      More than 2 in 5…

2/5 would be less than half the country.

      More than 2 … in 5 is implying it’s less than 3?

      Am I mental?

Edit. 43%? Why the fuck not just say 2/5 or idk 43%

    22. BulldenChoppahYus on

GB news so automatically do not trust but sounds vaguely plausible. Maybe the should let Farage know

    23. EmotionalDesign2876 on

I’ve thought it was ‚too close to US‘ for literally decades.

    24. Internal_Cat_4525 on

And now I don’t feel so crazy for fleeing to be here and claming humanitarian protection

    25. AppropriateDig9401 on

more than two and five Britain’s also voted labour and here we are so I’d take this title with a grain of salt

    26. Absolutely insane that the so called land of the free is being institutionally destroyed by a probable sex pest

    27. 3my2throw1away on

Why do they say things like „more than in 5“ is such a stupid way to gauge support/opposition to something.

      Just say a percentage.

    28. I expected it to be *much* higher than that, based on Trump’s second term. This suggests over 50% are OK with it?
