      Approximate totals for each confession (based on the 2019 electoral rolls):

      Sunnis: 29.33%
      Shias: 28.80%

      Maronites: 19.07%
      Greek Orthodox: 6.76%
      Druz: 5.50%

      Greek Catholic: 4.53%

      Other Christians: 4.62%

      Alawites: 0.86%

      I really wonder whether the French creating Lebanon was a smart idea. A country where no particular group dominates seems doomed to instability and manipulation by foreign powers.

      Isn’t this simply a graphic depiction of the Hezbollah tunnel from Iran through Syria to the border (as a launching pad for rockets and ground attacks against Israel)?
