Obsessed with anime… oh brother. The country is a total joke. “English teachers” (they cannot teach in their own home countries because they are unqualified). It is too easy. No developed nation should have such a pathway open for the lowest of the low to enter and remain. They are not sending their best.

Japan has that sweet spot of first world economy plus affordable housing.

Japan’s minimum wage is a bit higher than $7 an hour, with no tips, and you’ll be spending around 50% of after tax income to afford that apt. I dont think the math is *that* far off most us cities (vhcol like sf or nyc maybe the exception) when you factor that in.

“I was working four jobs after graduation — as a full time visual merchandiser at Lululemon, owner of a small sticker business, real estate sign manager, and organizational manager at a lacrosse club.”
Then maybe get a proper job instead of four rubbish ones?
