    1. Tech companies treating humans like disposable apps delete, update profits, repeat.

Who do they think is going to buy their shit if people don’t have money?

    3. Intelligent-Bed7284 on

They’re not cutting them. They’re hiring outside the country.

    4. For the longest time, I regretted going into healthcare instead of tech. Given the layoffs in recent years, I am glad I chose to work in a lab. AI has gutted that workforce.

This is for my kids. Is computer science still a good career? Is this just temporary staff adjustment in the tech world?

Seriously, cutting off jobs even after 95% profit is concerning, job stability in tech feels more fragile than ever what about people whos life depends on this job or people who really needed the job…

I thought the message was that AI wasn’t making money but now you say they had a $95B profit surge. Which is it?

While laying off American workers, Oracle was busy hiring H1B workers. From the NYP:

„As thousands of Oracle employees awoke on Tuesday to an email informing them they were being laid off, the workers likely didn’t know the tech company had been busy trying to hire foreign staff.

According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services data, Oracle filed for roughly 3,126 petitions to employ H-1B workers in fiscal years 2025 and 2026.“

    9. Welcome to trump/republican economics 101.

Taxcuts for the wealthiest owners and companies, serfdom for the rest.

    10. I’ll be honest this shit scares me. I’m in a field that is starting to utilize AI and I can see things going bad for employees if it works as advertised. And I have no clue if I should try to make a career shift now to another company or if I think my current employer will keep me around because I’ve proven myself. At this point I feel like I just have to ride it out and see what happens. And then pick a new job that has some elements of manual labor that AI can’t handle I guess?
I just have no confidence that other companies aren’t going to do the same thing oracle did

    11. Oracle is notoriously shitty. I have friends that would get „replanned“. Told that they have to repay $40,000 in well earned commissions or they no longer have a job. Just so Larry can buy another America’s Cup.

Larry’s a douche and no amount of money will satisfy him.

Larry Ellison is a man who flies his plane low over his neighbors after hours just because he can afford to pay the fines. He’s a modern age billionaire who doesn’t give any fucks about the people around him or those who made him rich. Exactly the kind of person who stands between the American Dream and the American people.

Hey guys, when are we („we“ as in „actual people“, not the corrupt political class) going to do something about these companies and ultra-wealthy CEOs removing us from the economy and replacing us with slave labor via the H1B system? Is it going to be before or after we’re all permanently relegated to poverty-stricken underclass? Just wondering.

    14. Now Oracle has applied for thousands of H1B visas. Write to your senator a representative and say this is unacceptable.

    15. LatterTreacle3903 on

Always knew they were compensations for something with their stupid ass ping pong tables and worthless RSUs

    16. MachineCloudCreative on

Oracle also asked for a shitload of H1-B Visas while pulling this shit.

Somebody needs a window to fall out of.

    17. According to another news article, Oracle fired 30,000 employees, and filed for thousands of H1B visas on the same day (which I believe will all be approved seeing as how Ellison greased the palms of the regime multiple times). MAGAs keep espousing their „replacement theory“, but this is the real replacement: well paid US employees will be replaced with cheaper employees, who will be totally dependent on their employer because of the visa.

If this works, expect other tech giants to follow suit.

No one should be surprised by this. They told us what they wanted to do. This is end game capitalism where the wealth concentration hits exponentially for those already with the bag.
