Even if China wanted to cancel the tariffs, doing so now would be deeply unpopular. Pork prices have collapsed and farmers are taking massive losses.
It is odd that the FM would raise the issue at a moment like this, but Trudeau-era cabinet ministers remain the lingering smear of dogshit that Carney just can’t seem to wipe off his shoes.
Maybe if he secures a majority he can finally end the long national nightmare.
