“Senior figures in parties opposed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with opposition leaders, have approached individuals linked to US President Donald Trump, urging them to press him not to intervene in Israel’s upcoming elections. They fear he could step in and support Netanyahu against rival candidates.”
Shouldn’t people who are against Bibi want his opposition to win?

Get your money and influence out of US politics, then we’ll talk.

I suspect not but is there some chance that Trump would affect Israeli elections in the same way he affects American elections, by harming the candidates he endorses?

Is he still begging to get Netanyahu a pardon for all his crimes?
That worked well for Bolsiniro…

Right. Trump and Bibi are tied at the hip. Their war crimes trials should be held simultaneously.

Antisemites from the West getting triggered every time they read “Israel”.
As a non-Jew and non-American/non-Israeli ex-Muslim, who sees the antisemitism on both sides of the ideological divide hiding behind antizionism obvious, I find this hilarious.

Trump repeatedly made explicit pro– Netanyahu statements in critical points since he was re-elected.
At one point, he stood at the Knesset and suggested that Netanyahu should be „pardoned“. In Israel, however, a pardon is only possible after a conviction. Netanyahu then leveraged Trump’s remarks to push aggressively for the complete cancellation of his corruption trial, without admitting guilt, without punishment, and of course without a conviction.
Trump also consistently praises Netanyahu’s leadership while portraying the opposing political camp as weak. More broadly, Trump tied Netanyahu personally to what he framed as past U.S.–Israel “successes” during his presidency, implicitly strengthening Netanyahu’s legitimacy and political narrative. Legitimacy has been and still is a major issue in Israeli politics since October 7th. A significant portion of the Israeli public naturally holds holds the current government and its head responsible for the failures surrounding October 7. It used to be 80% of the people at some point. Everything that happened in Israel in the past two and a half years is netanyahu’s quest to regain legitimacy and political standing and make Israelis forget his failures. This includes some of the campaigns during the war in gaza, and of course the war with iran. Trump has been a major part of this, hopefully one day we’ll know what he gets in return.

Fair point elections are a sovereign matter. Even indirect influence from figures linked to Donald Trump can raise concerns about interference, especially in a sensitive political climate.

Bruh, with all the insane shit they do, we should be bombing them for human rights abuses, not Iran.
