this always messes with my sense of scale 😭 like i’ll look at a map and think i understand geography and then something like this pops up and i realize i’ve been picturing everything completely wrong 💀 i swear my brain still thinks countries are way smaller than they actually are for no reason

Which timeline do you consider for old mexico?
Shrinkflation
That’s not old Mexico. New Mexico was named after the Mexico valley. New Mexico is actually older than Mexico the country
„Old“ Mexico isn’t the country of Mexico, it’s the Valley of Mexico, which is where Mexico City is.
New Mexico was called „New Mexico“ even while under Spanish and independent Mexican rule.
And here’s New New Mexico a.k.a. New Mexico+ a.k.a. The Even Newer New Mexico a.k.a. The Brand New New Mexico a.k.a. New Mexico 2.
