      I get where you’re trying to come from with this but most likely man, they just want to take this island because it is very important to Iran’s oil industry. Its also like a „baby step“ to get people more comfortable with the idea of boots on the ground vs. a mainland invasion. Once a bunch of US troops are killed on the island, they will use those deaths to justify staying and going further.

      I am more interested to findout why their oil industry is so regionalised. Iran has a massive coastline, wouldn’t they be better off having their ports on the gulf of Oman coast, it would shave a day or 2 off of shipping times and avoid the Strait of Hormuz being shutdown in times like these
