>Within minutes of the signing, top elections officials in Oregon and Arizona pledged to sue.
>Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read, a Democrat, said, “We don’t need decrees from Washington, D.C.” Read added: “My message to the President: We’ll see you in court.”
>U.S. Senator Ron Wyden said in a post on social media, „Oregonians have successfully voted by mail for over thirty years, and we’ll be damned if we let Donald Trump change the way our state runs its elections. My message to the White House is this: if you come for Oregon’s vote-by-mail, you’ll have hell to pay.“
>Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, also a Democrat, said Arizona’s vote-by-mail system was designed by Republicans and has delivered secure elections for decades, and that it is now used by 80% of voters. “Donald Trump is attempting to pick his desired list of voters in each state with the Social Security Administration’s help,” Fontes said. “We will not let this stand,” he added.
…
Trump’s first election executive order in March 2025 sought sweeping changes to how elections are run across the country, including adding a documentary proof-of-citizenship requirement to the federal voter registration form and requiring mailed ballots to be received at election offices by Election Day. Much of it has been blocked through legal challenges brought by voting rights groups and Democratic state attorneys general who allege it’s an unconstitutional power grab that would disenfranchise large groups of voters.
>He also said in a February interview with a conservative podcaster that he wants to “take over” elections from Democratic-run areas,
>Tuesday’s voting order shows he hasn’t learned from his previous, blocked efforts to assert control over elections, said David Becker, a former Justice Department lawyer who leads the Center for Election Innovation and Research.
>“The Constitution is very clear — the president has no power over elections in the states,” Becker said. “This will be blocked as soon as lawyers can get to the courthouse.”
>Becker also added that the U.S. Postal Service is run by a board of governors, and the president has no power to tell it what mail it can and cannot deliver.
>“If Trump signs an unconstitutional Executive Order to take over voting, we will sue,“ Marc Elias, a voting rights litigator and founder of Democracy Docket, said in a social media post. „I don’t bluff and I usually win.”
Trump loves violating the US Constitution.
If the GOP hadn’t spent the last 25 years stacking federal courts with conservative judges, I might be optimistic. But that ship sailed a long time ago.
Blue states: Abso-fucking-lutely not
Red states: *Sigh* Yes daddy…
They really needed to. our primary is in May. So block it now, or don’t block it at all
That beautiful day…
*“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary. It’s horrible what’s going on,” Trump said*
Oregonian here and this pure bullshit.
„*A review of the vote by mail system by the state’s Legislative Fiscal Office found from 2000-2019 there were approximately 61 million ballots cast. Of those, 38 criminal convictions of voter fraud were obtained. This amounts to a .00006% rate“*

Vote-by-mail is the safest and most secure way to vote. Lastly, that fat vile slob just voted by mail, so I guess he cheated.
oregon is the tits
Mark ass magic marker muthafucka.
Trump voted (for Epstein) by mail a few days ago.
Another false, clickbait headline from right wing KATU/Sinclair. Do NOT post of KATU/Sinclair. It’s a right wing propaganda outlet.
Oregon has not yet sued, nor has any other state. What is going on at the moment is almost certainly a lot of discussion among officials from several states and interest groups about how best to structure a complaint for filing in federal court and the motion for TRO that will accompany that filing. It makes much more sense for states to file a single lawsuit join together as plaintiffs than it would make for each state or interest group to start its own lawsuit. I want to see some blue states join in this time.
I’m hoping Oregon AG, Dan Rayfield, will take a leading role in this litigation. He’s proven himself in the past to be an able and effective field general.
Many Republicans will lose their seats if their broke ass voters can’t get to the polls ..
I don’t see them wanting this, I think Trump just wants it ..
I’m sure all those “don’t tread on me” tough guys won’t bend over and get all submissive about this right
This is just going to galvanize voters more
I mean, yeah? That’s literally our entire system, and we were the ones who pioneered it.
Why they write over everything like that with a marker?
Good.
Anecdotal, but aren’t most mail in ballots coming from registered republicans?
Imagine committing such a heinous crime you have to commit treason once and then pull every exploitation of a democracy to be allowed to run again. Lose said election to lazy fucks to busy/bummy to actually vote. Cozy up to religious zealots who will never be satisfied even after the country they inhabit (THANKS TO THEIR IMMIGRANT RELATIVES) is completely ruined socially, politically and economically all because the crime you committed would put you AT LEAST in prison for the rest of your life.
Fuck this child molesting moron. I can’t wait until he is confronted with his actual judgement and gets to reap the consequences of a life of racism, entitlement, sexual abuse and hatred.
States Rights huh
I think of all of Trump’s thousands of lies, the pure fucking fantasy he’s created in the heads of Republican voters that election fraud is „rampant“, elections are „stolen“, that Democrats can „only win if they cheat“ are his most dangerous ones.
We have one of the most secure and robust election systems in the world because of how decentralized it is. Listening to Trump constantly lie and just make up pure bullshit stories about election fraud is frustrating enough, but asd in the fact that his supporters eat it all up with a smile on their faces is even worse. It tears at the foundations of our democracy.
Is this one of the examples it is too close to the election to stop it?
Love my state!
Fuck yeah Oregon and Arizona.
As an Oregonian, hell yes!
Unconstitutional nonsense by Mango Mussolini.
Each state should do both. Regular ass voting like we always have.
And then do the the votes they say are actual citizens or not. I bet you a nickel they don’t match. Id say a penny, but even that’s worthless now.
I’m not quite sure why they should even care. A Presidential executive order is NOT a law, and only applies (IF it doesn’t violate the US Constitution) to the Administrative branch of the federal government, NOT to the US States. The US Constitution clearly gives the States the authority and responsibility to run all elections. So this unconstitutional executive order is invalid.
I fully expect Donald Trump to have no fucking clue how executive orders work, but why does everyone act like they work the way that idiot thinks they do? This isn’t a law. It has no legitimate enforcement mechanism. It threatens to illegally withold funding from states that don’t follow it. It is ridiculous.
