This has been one of the rare Ford scandals where disapproval is coming from both sides of the political spectrum. I hope it continues to be framed as a non-partisan issue where *any* future government that takes power would have the same FOI protections.
Given how vilified the OLP is from the gas plant scandal (and rightfully so), Wynne didn’t have to remind the public of her party’s failures but chose to do so anyway to prove how non-partisan this issue is. Unlike Ford who nearly 8 years into his premiership continues to beat the OLP’s tenure like a dead horse.
If another party formed government in the next decade and began to abuse or limit the FOI process would Ford be in Trillium writing about how necessary they were during the Greenbelt, Beer Store, Therme Spa, and Skills Development Fund scandals? I highly doubt it.
