This is very interesting, so we could say that this trend may be repeated with other large companies

Why would anyone buy a premium subscription when the vendor has shown they will intentionally tank the quality of their reliable products to coerce you into paying for features you already had?

Adobe can extort businesses and individuals because they corner the market on illustration/image editing. Both the enterprise and freelance ends of the spectrum have become dependent on it.

Only enterprise customers *need* Microsoft products and many are willing to experiment with alternatives if they have the same functionality. It’s a tighter rope to walk and once you piss them off, say goodbye to a steady revenue stream.

Surely this is the fault of the workers and not the moronic upper management pushing a dogshit OS with Ai sprinkles.

Course correct away from something clearly unpopular and obviously ineffective?

They’re like the Principal Skinner meme:

„No, it’s the consumers who are wrong.“

Microsoft has been aggressively pushing their AI slop in every nook and cranny of Windows, trying to drive up Copilot adoption. Users clearly don’t want more AI. Windows has never been a very stable OS to begin with and rather than fix those issues, they do the above. FAFO I guess?

    6. They are now stuck. All their customers are saying they’ll keep deserting until they shift their focus away from AI and back to their core businesses. Meanwhile the investors are all saying they have to make AI work and return on the investment.

About the only hope they have is that, when the business is 90 days away from bankruptcy, Apple return the favour and write them a cheque.

    7. Where did the money go? TSLA goes up 25% in the same quarter and they had nothing but bad news.

The brand is a joke and it’s not just the AI failure anyone could have seen, it’s also Apple dipping their toes into the affordable laptop market. Couple that with Xbox failing hard and Microsoft has nothing right now to hang its hat on.

      I love this for them.

Honestly its well deserved. When you go chasing fads, bad things can happen.

When my M365 sub runs out I’m not renewing and changing to a Linux distro. Microslop have gone from being a tech company to be an advertising wannabe. Fed up with them and that rubbish Copilot.

    11. Well they are a shitty company and have been for 30 years. It’s about time they got their due

    12. Duhh, if you make a new version of an operating system that won’t run on your computer unless you buy a brand new computer – can you really expect financial success?

    13. remerber guy, the microslop thingy is working, thats the only reason they are doing some QOL updates

if they still making ai shh keep the microslop slogan up and running, dont ever sleep on this!

    14. Microsoft hasnt done anything game changing in a long time.

Xbox isnt what it used to be, Windows isn’t either.

If there’s 1 big tech company thats too corporate, its definitely Microslop.

The Microslop sinking ship is here!

Fuck your subscription bullshit. So nice to see the steady stream of “I’m getting off Windows and moving to Linux” posts on the various Linux subs

    16. flatbrokeoldguy on

The company deserves to lose money when they consistently push the bullshit crapwear Windows 11 and their insistence on the forced replacement of billions of perfectly good old computers that run windows 10 but can’t any longer be safely used that can’t receive security updates.

    17. WeirdSysAdmin on

Well it’s literally impossible to manage the Microsoft stack with lean teams now. That was previously the entire benefit. I haven’t even been able to do my actual job because I’m constantly unraveling and explaining Microsoft bullshit to people.

Pushing flawed AI on us, making us forced testers, is a sure way to drown as a company. Fix your OS and apps

Thanks for the mandatory PC upgrades and unknown catastrophic level of E-waste for 11 y’all, enjoy the rest of 2026 and GFYS’s.

When the public keeps saying no but you keep forcing yes, what do you expect?

    21. Joshhwwaaaaaa on

Give the people what they want. A usable OS not ridden with ads and AI.

    22. I don’t think its just Microslop. As a long time Windows User since before ’95 it has been a long and steady decline where they just didnt seem to care what the consumer wanted anymore, or even knew.

My needs changed. I just use a Mac now. Its not perfect either, but at least its not a fucking mess.

    23. Deviantdefective on

This is what you get for shoving ai bullshit down our throats, wrecking Xbox and mothballing Surface hardware development.

    24. Good. It’s very satisfying to see dialogue about AI go from endless optimism to inevitable decline. I told y’all two years ago to tap the breaks and everybody acted like I was an old man yelling at the clouds. Well Grandpa Simpson was right!
