I think China prefers stability, sure they want to diversify over time away from the dollar, sure they want America bogged down in yet another middle east boondoggle that bleeds America, and it allies in the middle east dry in geopolitical influence, lives, and especially costs, sure it wants brics devlopment banks to be more attractive alternatives to what viewed as predatory institutions like the IMF, and World Bank by the non-western world, and so fourth.

However China also doesnt want a volatile wildcard in America under Oresident Trump and Maga unilateralitists that upends trade agreements , that doesnt care for international global order rules , that acts impulsively, and acts unilaterally in interventionism that causes global market instability, that a America that scares China. Really to be honest China fears a America under Trump (and MAGA), that will act irrationally and cause global market instability, and might make decisions that is sure to hurt China (and the rest of the world) like the us defaulting on his debts (the president has floated this about before), or scts unilaterally, and irrationally in the current war in Iran (that has basically hurt the shipping of LNG, Fertilizer, oil, petroleum products, etc. through not only the straight of harmouz, uet with the Houthis joining this war, also the ban al mendeb), and a America under Trump and MAGA that has a oprah Winfrey like „you get a tariff, you get a tariff, you with only penguins over there get a tariff, everybody gets a tariff“ mayhem.

This also hurts Russia, China, India, Japan, the EU just as much as America, this war also shuts down key airspace for air travel to key economic destinations the west asia, in Mena, and HOA regions.

China will of course look out for it own intreasts, and seek the moment to see the us bogged down (whilemore nations move away from the dollar over the long haul, and inflation, and the possible return of stagflation hurts the American working class overall), however the longer the cut off of aviation global airspace for key layover and business routes, and key global shipping routes this goes on, China fears the war dragging on too long, and more instability happening. I think that why Pakistan is the mediator in the talks, all parties (except proabably Israel, and for sure India) have some trust, whatever it the USA, Iran, the Gcc states and even China of Pakitan neutrality in the conflict.

I actually agree. China has benefited immensely from trade with the US and participation in the global financial system. They don’t want to blow it all up violently, but get as much as possible out of it.

While the CCP is certainly efficient at some things, it was getting plugged into the Western led global financial system that really supercharged their growth and development.
