It would not surprise me at all to see the provincial parties west of Manitoba change their names.  They don’t get much from the Federal NDP name these days, so there really isn’t an upside

    2. What name could they go with? Alberta Social Democrats? Just the Alberta Democrats? Something else entirely? Anyone know if anything has ever been proposed?

And for a fun fact, the original name of the NDP was meant to be the New Party. It’d be funny if they stuck with that for all this time, never getting old.

    3. The idea worked wonders for the BC Liberal Party, they should go for it. Oh wait I’m being told that in fact it went disastrously badly and that party completely imploded into oblivion afterward. Ah well nevertheless.

I was against any provincial NDP party rebranding, but with how unwarrantedly hostile Nenshi and Beck have decided to be to Avi and by extension the majority of federal NDP members who voted for him, I’ve changed my mind and they should do it asap.

I’ve never understood why you have provincial NDP parties, which are so clearly connected by branding insist that the are seperate and maintain seperate legal personalities. Why bother affiliating yourself with the national party if you don’t want it?
