If country’s energy and economy tied with them will keep Deplomatic relation with all but should also consider EU policy while taking any decision

    2. Orbán used to be VERY anti-Russian, all the way up to 2009. At one point in the 2000’s, him and the Russian ambassador were shouting with each other in public and in Hungarian. He even said that Europe is full of Putin-Pinschers, like his then-arch-enemy, the then-PM: Ferenc Gyurcsány (who WAS friendly with Putin, although a lot less than Orbán later was) and used to say things like we shouldn’t be the happiest barrack of Gazprom. He even denounced the Russian invasion of Georgia.

And then in late 2009, he headed a delegation to a party conference of the United Russia Party, had a brief chat with Putin behind closed doors, won the 2010 elections with a supermajority and the rest is history.
