  1. Honestly, irrespective of the weak apology last week, this guy seemed to have been incredibly ineffective as the CEO. Air Canada did not improve at all under his watch.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Pay your workers equitably while you charge 1k roundtrip for a domestic flight so they don’t have to go to food banks.

The French stuff aside. Fuck this guy.

Lmao, out of the terrible things he’s done to the business and its employees, it’s the French that got him

My god these politicians and ceos in Canada really do just quit at every first little controversy. Never seen a bigger bunch of quitters.

More of just having Fuck You money and him not wanting to deal with any of this lol. He doesnt care.

  7. Oh wow…I would have bet coin that he’d survived this…because that’s usually how it goes in Canada, land of regulatory capture and zero consequences…

I’m guessing that Carney is going all-in on the upcoming Terrebonne, QC by-election and needed a scalp, given the context…

But hey – don’t shed a tear for mon cher Monsieur Rousseau, I’m pretty sure a decent pile of *“F*** you“* money was on the table…Or perhaps, it’s the Trailer Park Boys *I’m-gonna-pay-you-$100-to-fuck-off* meme which comes to mind, except add several more zeroes…

  8. I’m surprised Carney was so critical when the language standards for those entering Canada are reduced. The rate we’re going we won’t be speaking either of our national languages in 50 years anyways. Way to pick that hill to die on Carney.

  9. As part of his exit packages, they should give a subscription to Duolingo…

  10. I mean, it’s pretty funny how not putting effort into your Duolingo can cost you your job in Canada while some really shitty people doing really shitty stuff still stay in power in the States.

Can’t wait for someone unqualified to get the role purely because they speak french.

The number of people qualified to lead a national airline is tiny, and enforcing language for a private company (I don’t care about where their headquarters are) is one of the many reasons this country is falling behind in every metric relative to other G7 countries

May he spend eternity in economy hungover with crying babies and he lost his 1/2 earbuds and forgotten phone charger

Air Canada has to be located in Montreal, that is the law. Why? A Federal make work project for Quebec. The Language Laws there, French only, ensure that Anglophones can’t work in Quebec.

Considering how much he’s been paid, either he wasn’t capable of learning French – in which case he wasn’t qualified for his role, or he didn’t want to… in which case he wasn’t fit for his role.

Either way… he’s not the only CEO we should be be scrutinizing.
