Very smart. The Saudis and Qataris and Emiratis have good air defenses but nowhere near the level of Israel’s. This would save a ton of American lives in a future war.
If this happened the USA would be even more all-in with Israel.
I know it’s really hard to have a normal conversation about USA Israel relations, but how does the USA benefit in being so completely entangled in Middle East / Israeli politics?
It’s just so weird.
Are Israel a great trade partner? Do they have some amazing resources the USA needs? A massive market for services?
Does Israel have great soft power? Are they a member of a big trading bloc where they can be a voice for the USA?
Can Israel help the USA face down China, or Russia?
It makes no strategic sense to me.
I’m just about getting to the point where I’m ready to vote to close the embassy in Israel and never speak to them again. We can build energy independence with renewables and forget that the Middle East exists entirely. I don’t want a penny of investment to ever reach Israel again. I do not care what happens there, at all, or for any reason.
Problem entirely of their own making with a proposed solution entirely to their own benefit. Thanks, but no thanks.
