I grew up near this area, and we were warned quite explicitly and repeatedly throughout the entirety of our schooling, do not under any circumstances fuck about on the mud flats, especially when tide is coming in.

I grew up in that area. It’s not quicksand, it’s mud flats, and everyone knows from a young age you do not walk there for this reason! The tide comes in quickly as well. You do not want to be stuck.

I initially read that as Echo Beach.
