>The only way Israel can ensure how the Gaza Strip will be governed, and who will govern it, is to govern it itself. Moreover, the only way Israel can govern the Gaza Strip without becoming an external oppressor of “another people” is to remove “the other people” from the confines of the Gaza Strip itself.
This is the only feasible path to durable deradicalization of Gaza.
This is not radical right-wing radicalism. It is merely sound and sober political science.
A mainstream, self-declared centrist Israeli newspaper openly advocating for ethnic cleansing. Because certain crimes against humanity are just „sound and sober political science“.

The most radical bloodthirsty country in human history wanting to „deradicalize“ their neighbour. Is there no depth of depravity to which israel will not sink?

October 7 was a bold strategic move, albeit all the carnage it caused.
The horror of the attack galvanized Israeli society towards ever increasing escalation, destroying Israel’s reputation in the US and drawing the country to wars it ultimately cannot win.

It’s impossible to deradicalise a population that Israel has inflicted so much generational trauma on. The extent of death and destruction it has caused in Gaza since October 7 is absolutely devastating. They have murders tens of thousands of men, women and children, wiped out entire families, and flattened the entire strip.
You can argue about who started what, and which side are the good guys until the cows come home – it doesn’t matter. Theres no excuse for what Israel has done.

As a matter of principle, I find it a bit useless to critique de feasibility of any idea without also minimally critiquing the alternatives. Despite the fact that deradicalisation of Gazans is likely to be extremely difficult, the author doesn’t subject the proposed alternative, forceful permanent removal of all Gazans, to any scrutiny whatsoever. Where will Gazans go? Which country will take them in? Or is the plan to just drown them in the Mediterranean sea?
