About time. I hope it gains traction. Need something that affects these people in the only language they know: money.

Finally, the Americans are getting on the move. Wish you success!

May 1 sounds like a great day to get some shopping done without long lines.

It’s not on a fucking Saturday where it does exactly zero good.

      God damn finally.

My friend at Home Depot Corporate HQ received a warning from their boss that anyone who participates in this protest is getting fired. Such a shit company.

Edit: to clarify, this wasn’t a memo, it was just an informal conversation during a meeting where the manager stated their distaste for people who participate in these protests, and anyone who does will be „swiftly removed“ and „taken out with the trash“

I hope the first of many. Make them remember the rich are made so off our backs.

The issue is 98 percent of the population isn’t going to have a clue that a strike is scheduled because corporate media will purposely not cover it.

Mass strikes are incredibly successful but you can’t let the proletariat know that.

It’s not a general strike. Protesting for 6 hours on a Saturday and then running back to your cubicles on Monday is not a general strike. It’s utterly ineffective and poses no threat to an authoritarian regime whatsoever.

I hope this has wide support. It’s a courageous move because if it fizzles, precious credibility could suffer and we need all we can get in a battle waged against an enormous machine that uses our own money to oppose us with false propaganda and retaliatory policies.

Not to be a pessimist but is it technically a general strike if it lasts for one day? A lot of people already don’t work or have school on Friday (past one-day „strikes“ have usually been on Saturdays which is even worse). 15 months and multiple no kings protests in we really should be able to muster up at least one full weekend, ideally longer, but a singular day seems really short sighted

    11. Americans are Uber consumers
We rarely go a day without buying anything.

Don’t watch TV. Don’t buy from Corporate Fast Food. No shopping. Come on, you can wait one day.

Take a walk, go to a local protest.Go to the public library.

      Stay home.

If you have to go to work. I do understand. Take your breaks. Do your job. But that’s all.

      Then leave and join in.

For the love of yours and your neighbors and everyone you know – DO IT, PEOPLE.

Sorry, but a strike aint it unless it crosses party and industry lines, which this clearly doesn’t. 33% of people didn’t even bother to vote, and the other 33% voted for this shit.

A general purchase boycot is MUCH easier to adopt and sustain long-term.

Also, the job market is so shit that they can easily replace anyone who thinks about a long-term strike with one of the 400+desperate applicants who need a job during a shitty economic time like this.

Really hope this gains some traction. Money is the only language these people understand.

Dont try to buy extra right before the day either. Try your best to simply plan to use what you were already going to buy.

Space out your gas usage, food, pre make your breakfast and avoid using social media other than reddit or SMALL websites.

Go outside and enjoy the world consumer free.

These days, it’s the Democrats who scare me stiff. I fear that, given the chance, the party would pull this country backward, to places I don’t care to revisit.

Personally, I like tax cuts. And the death penalty. Welfare reform has, in my view, been a resounding success, helping infantilized adults grow up and, likely, helping to reduce crime and child abuse.

Meanwhile, nothing the Dems have shown me proves they have a single, sound idea for improving lives of the average American.

    17. This should have been planned at least a year though; that’s my only criticism.

Strikes are great and a general strike can be effective. But you need infrastructure, especially to protect low income individuals or those who may risk their jobs.

    18. About damn time they use their platform for something other than chanting on sidewalks.

I got laid off on Friday, so definitely will be general striking.

    20. jayfeather31 on

Good. Goodness knows we need the momentum from No Kings to carry into something.

    21. Ambitious_Address667 on

If these strike are only occurring once every 2 months, you are not going to see change until the 2050s. Americans need to stop weekendprotesting and move to more general protests or a general strike. Take it state by state if you need.
