My absolute favorite channel when it comes to Ukraine (and now Iran) War updates and analytics.

Really good analytics and reasoning. A distilled precis on Ukraines future. The only thing I am not sure of is ruzziah holding onto Ukranian territority. If the rf collapses the last thing they will want is more territority that is useless due to their own scorched earth tactics.
With the weapons now in Ukraines posession I am still agog that the Kerch is still in one peice. Surely this is a symbolic peice of ruzzin morale that could be destroyed in short shift.

That is a premature strategisation. While the reasoning can be agreed with and is convincing, the war has not ended yet and we know for sure, russians are looking to fight another several years.
There are deep and severe ramifications related to losing land and people. Economy growth is weaker, mobilisation potential decreases, and ability to defend decreases.
From russian point of view they intended to trade their soldier lives for land. Knowing that russia lost an estimated 1,000,000 in killed and disabled, they still captured and gained 7,000,000 population of Ukrainians in captured territories and refugees. From russian point of view that is an addition of territory, addition of coastal line, addition of people who are already recruited and sent to war, and pushing the borders.
If the war would stop today, in the history books it would be read as russian conquering of significant territory and people.
In order for the war to be counted as Ukrainian victory, Ukraine needs to regain all the land, otherwise nobody will use propoganda points in historical context.
In historical context, they could have taken Kiev, will not be used and will be forgotten.

Shows how much Russia is failing. Good overview. He used to repeat provably false Russian talking points alongside good reporting, so it’s interesting to see him say this now and have come around.

War goals are wrong. Russia is paving the way for China. Seen in that light, their Anti-West alliance is winning.

While the analysis is sound, the war isn’t about Russia achieving strategic objectives.
At present, it’s a „do or die“ situation for the Russian regime, if they stop the war without „winning“, the Russian regime will eventually implode, so they’ll just continue until they can’t.
