The what
This expansionist crap is so hot rn. Iowa is trying to steal a few southern counties from Minnesota as well
What would be the point of this? For political reasons? Economic? I’m assuming it’s the former, as Texas’s economy is much stronger than New Mexico’s.
If that happened and Hobbs switched states, where would West Texans go to get their weed???
Everyone’s going to need to get new belt buckles.
That state is becoming more and more obnoxious day by day.
I’m surprised they didn’t try and get Eddy County as well.
If anyone is curious, Lea county, Roosevelt county, and Eddy county are the bulk of the Permian Basin shale deposits in New Mexico, along with bits in Chaves and Otero
But the border’s so clean as it stands…
Texas, when it looks in the mirror, it sees an imperial national that *just happens* to be a part of the USA
Wtf
3 days Texan special military operation coming soon
But this would ruin the iconic Texas shape. My belt buckle and waffle iron will be useless.
This student council project will be shut down politely at some point.
I oppose this. Not on any constitutional or moral grounds, but the fact that it would be difficult and confusing to draw. Why don’t we take the panhandle from Oklahoma instead? Just a slightly taller hat?
The what now??
Texas tried this crap in 1841 and 1862. Failed spectacularly
New Mexico should threaten to seize El Paso.
As long as they leave us the mineral rights
that should be illegal purely because it would mess up the single most iconic & recognizable state shape
I think this is driven mostly by oil and gas interests so of all the redrawing of state lines proposals I’ve seen this might be the most viable. That said, every Best Western in Texas would need to order new waffle irons if it goes through so that may but the brakes on the whole thing.
Permian Basin. Worked down there, literally nothing but oil wells for miles.
Wow, the county lines in Texas are…very square.
As a Texan…
… this quite literally is just a distraction from ACTUALLY HELPING THE TEXAN PEOPLEÂ
Pax Texaco
it’s like Republican states can’t wait for the Civil War to come to them. They have to rush out and make it themselves.
THE WHAT
Texas 3 day special operation just dropped.
LOL!!!
Everything over to the Rio Grande river and some of SE Colorado. Oh and Oklahoma.
Eventually everyone will be Texan
So states can actually annex neighboring states right now? But besides, that would ruin the iconic Texas shape we all love.
Trying to start a civil war
Never gonna happen
It’s moot anyway, blatantly illegal
These New Mexico residents own waaay too many dildos, by Texas standards.
The what now???
Western Maryland toyed with leaving Maryland and joining West Virginia. As a West Virginian, I can assure them that this would be a giant mistake.
Surprised Curry isn’t included.
Clovis is just a veritable suburb of Lubbock at this point.
New Mexican here: the flippant part of me wants to say, „fine, trade you for El Paso, which should have been ours to begin with.“
The realist in me knows oil and gas is about the only economic driver NM has, and losing those counties would be semi-catastrophic, even if they culturally fit Texas more than the rest of NM.
Cool, we’ll trade for El Paso
What do people from those counties think about it?
Unnatural Texan here.
There’s gonna be a lot of Dales who need new stickers on the back of their Dodge Rams.
When is the last time a State changed its borders like this?
