SNS is probably the cause. A lot of kids end up absorbing and internalizing the narrow-minded views amplified by petty adults, and those adults with too much time on their hands keep reproducing and spreading those ideas. It’s a phenomenon you see all over the world.

  2. I feel like this is a thing everywhere. Even in countries known for immigrants like the US and Australia you will hear no shortage of cases of xenophobic bullying.

  3. I think school bullying is the true barometer of how racial tolerance is improving or worsening in a country.

All around we are seeing tightening restrictions and controls on foreigners, but when they are brought up apologists leap in to explain why all those changes are perfectly reasonable. And maybe at face value they really can be justified and explained.

But when your kid starts getting picked on for being from a „lowly country“ when it wasn’t an issue before…that’s when you know things are getting ugly, and that people’s true feelings are darker and meaner than the adults are willing to admit to in polite company.

  4. I don’t think this is anything new. It was certainly happening before Sanseito, etc. Did it increase? Maybe, who knows.
