The strangest part of this rare overnight session is that the vote was actually unanimous despite all the public posturing about border security being a non-negotiable priority. They clearly agreed on the funding gaps behind closed doors while pretending to be at an impasse for the cameras.

FINALLY! I bet the House won’t pass it, or trump won’t sign it, though.

Thank God! About time ICE/CBP was robbed of its piggy bank. Happy to see the rest of DHS back open, while the iffy bit is shut down.

Now, for it to pass the House. Fuuuun…

TSA has been unfairly penalized by this shutdown. Banks don’t help them when their bills are due.

  5. I wonder what else is buried in this bill. Republicans must have voted for it for some reason. I not really seeing them being altruistic at this point in time

The REPUBLICANS folded for once????? There might be hope for this country after all. Happy Friday everyone!

So, I thought ICE was already funded for the next 3 years. Is this just not providing *extra* funding? Or are they actually withholding funding?

A reminder that until this bill passes, the Coast Guard is still unpaid!

I understand each side is spinning here, but to me this feels like a democrat loss or at very least a sort of tie. They held out this long to try to get some Policy changes at ICE and ended up caving and reopening TSA without that? They lose their biggest negotiating chip…

Everyone says this is what they asked for weeks ago…. That’s not entirely true. They asked for this PLUS policy changes.

Am I missing something? Since the BBB already funds ICE is there some roles that are not funded if ICE doesn’t get a budget? I just picture some guy in the basement who is not being paid because he was excluded from BBB but is generally covered under the ICE normal allocations…

Who is going to stand around airports to replace the ICE pukes that call out sick?

Senate Dems are pocket vaginas. Zero ICE reforms in this package. Ho-ly smokes…. At least let us have sex with you Chuck Schumer, cause this is just a complete waste

All the politicians about to leave for their two week recess and don’t want to be stuck in the lines themselves

  13. So many people in this thread suck at politics so bad that they probably think I am talking about the posters they disagree with.

  14. Here’s the problem Dems, Trump will apportion this money any way he chooses. He’s already diverted personnel from other agencies to support ICE. It’s been proven you can’t or won’t do anything about that.

You had a defensible strategy of demanding reforms so innocent Americans aren’t murdered. Now the bloodshed will continue, as will the impunity.

Democrats are allegedly the opposition party. As such, they must block everything the fascists need. This surrender disappoints your base and makes Trump look like a strong leader.

  15. Crazy that I see that comment from Sen. Duckworth that DHS could have paid the TSA using existing funds literally last night before bed and a couple hours later the GOP capitulates to the same bill dems have proposed 11 times. Really shows you how much the entire thing was political theatre on the republican side. It’s disgusting what they’re willing to do to their fellow Americans.

Not understanding how we went from the GOP agreeing to some moderate ICE reforms, to passing a bill with absolutely no ICE reforms? What leverage do the Dems have left to get anything done?
