I fly on both sides of the line with the Israel conflicts but my brother and sisters in christ this is an invasion of another nation.

    2. Your neighbor keeps throwing firecrackers over your fence into your yard. You knock a few back into his and tell him to cut it out. He keeps doing it. You throw some of his firecrackers in the trash and warn him against doing it again. He does it five more times. You then go into his yard and physically sit there to stop him from throwing firecrackers. Ap: “MY GOD! ITS AN INVASION!”

    3. What else would you call it? A pre defensive action created by our need for the land at some future point where we will have to defend it after taking it?

I mean… Israel straight up said they’re aiming to seize land…

      So… yeah?

    5. >Israeli officials, including the defense minister, said they want to take control of the entire area south of the Litani River — some 20 miles (about 30 kilometers) north of the border – and that displaced Lebanese residents will not be allowed back until Israel decides that its northern border is safe.

Is there really anyone who wouldn’t call this an invasion? They are literally invading.

Here’s the definition, by the way.

      >Military: The act of an armed force entering another sovereign territory to conquer, occupy, or overthrow a government.

If the Lebanese government had done their job and suppressed Hezbollah, then this wouldn’t be happening

The political trolls expect Israelis to be killed from Hezbollah rocket fire and not respond. When they strike back there is outcry. When Hezbollah embeds itself in with the population so them difficult to remove nobody cares. Israelis deaths don’t matter to people. You can’t remove an entrenched group with bombs alone. You have to go in, get them out, and make sure they don’t return. And the people (and govt) of Lebanon want them out. Once they’re out, there can be a peace deal and land will be returned. It happened with Jordan. It happened with Egypt. It can only happen in Lebanon once Hezbollah is rooted out.

Sure it is – but what are they expected to do? Iran decided they want to drag Lebanon into this war.

No shit? Israel probably wouldn’t disagree. They just have a reason for invading.

    10. Is it an invasion? Sure. But what exactly is Israel supposed to do here? UN 1701 hasn’t been respected. Hezbollah is launching barrages of rockets on northern Israel. Would any country be expected to just take it? Would the US not take Mexican territory if the cartels were bombing San Diego?

I ask with all seriousness: if you oppose Israel’s actions, please explain what you would do in this situation.

Wouldn’t it definitionally be an invasion if territory is to be occupied against the wishes of the sovereign? Shit I’ve heard normandy be referred to as an invasion, pretty sure merriem webster uses it as en example.

Then again nowadays 99% of online discourse is about fighting over word usage because arguments (often just slogans really) themselves rely on the moral connotations that are smuggled in with word usage and the wors today is intuitively connected with Ukraine so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.

    12. new polymarket bid, will Israel return the land and pay Lebanon compensations???
      Epic returns on investment

Since when is entering another country’s territorial borders called an “invasion”?

That being said, Lebanon seems more upset at Irans funding of hezbollah than it is of Israel going after Hezbollah in Lebanese territory
