They were singing a song by the Wolfe tones called celtic symphony. Bit of a misleading headline.

      Edit: band

Jesus, thank God they cut it, I’d have instantly become a RA member if I had heard another second.

Probably somewhat of a protest to free speech topic with the proposal to ban in the UK coming in last week

    4. Honestly more surprised people were shocked by it happening, it was in a pub after all

    5. To the surprise of …? It’s not like the IRA are some hated group in Ireland. The IRA didn’t grow out of a vacuum, nor is it particularly controversial to sing some songs.

I was merely engaged in a friendly duel and the crowd were excited to see me summon the Winged Dragon of Ra.

Ah, so that’s the secret to keeping RTÉ at bay?

I’ll have to start singing Wolfe Tones tunes the next time the TV Licence inspector is doing his rounds.

Good to see rte is complying with newly passed British rulings. Wouldn’t want a West Brit organization to do anything that’s illegal there

      Let the fuckin people sing!

Eeryone knows the only Ra you’re allowed to cheer for / support on RTE are The Stickies.

      Ned Stapleton Cumann forever.

Could be worse. The 6-one news show us war footage or 9/11 or other terrorist footage.

One of the few things that annoys me about the younger Irish fans is that they sing up the RA and I’d wager most of them have no clue about history.

As a younger man I went to all the games from the mid 80s to the early 00s and I stand to be corrected, but chanting about the IRA was frowned upon and didn’t really happen back then. My belief is that most of us who lived in Ireland at that time realised that some of the stuff they got up to, supposedly in the name of Republicanism, was evil and depraved.

These chants of today are ill-judged, ignorant embarrassing I think.

‚forced‘ just like Trump was ‚forced‘ to kidnap Maduro and the entire west was ‚forced‘ to back the Palestinian genocide.

So tired of being gaslit by our media into thinking that the politics of our rulers are the only option.

Pity they don’t cut that Ireland’s Call shite anytime it’s on.

Must have been full of all those dastardley Irish-Americans who the redditeurs claim are the only people who do such things.
