    2. Snowden and Assange were the canary in the coalmines showing that nobody (no citizens and no politicians) was going to do jack shit about all the stuff happening now.

      Americans didn’t do shit about mass surveillance. War crimes. Participating in a genocide. Electing a convicted felon. Not doing anything about elite pedophiles and rampant corruption, nepotism and the erosion of… well, let’s just group everything on that last one together and just call it ‚The Trump Administration‘.

      Maybe he exhausted his usefulness to the country that gave him sanctuary and they sent him to a work camp or worse.

      I think he got fatigued. He put his life and freedom on the line to warn people about massive government overreach, illegal surveillance of private citizens, and all kinds of other stuff, and people were like „Huh, ain’t that something“ and forgot all about it.

      Genuine question – Did his whistleblowing actually lead to any real changes or just made what is happening more well known?
