At this rate it will be cheaper just to stop buying food and drink the gasoline.

Gas prices in Germany are $4 a litre, and food is cheaper than in Canada.

Already $2.11 in Victoria and I think higher than that in Vancouver.

Kind of insane that 30% of the energy being blocked hasn’t even resulted in gas prices exceeding the all time highs of 2022 yet. Timing of carbon tax removal doing wonders right now.

      Hey
No sweat boys!  What does energy security mean?  This.

Gas prices go up, grocery prices go up. Gas prices eventually go back down, grocery prices continue to go up. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks trump. Or are the right wingers gonna say this is Carney’s fault?

Wait i was told for years by the liberals and the media that gas prices (cost of carbon) didn’t impact or increase grocery prices?

Now im confused, higher fuel prices do make groceries more expensive? Because this time its trumps fault?

Happy days for the Westons – 10 dollars strawberries the new normal but the inflation will be only 1 per cent the will say

Don’t worry, we live in an oil rich bread basket country. There’s energy and food abundance for all.

Crazy to me there isn’t some law or system in place to freeze these prices in situations like that. I don’t know how it would work but it’s bullshit.

Bro. I just filled up for $2.15/L in Vancouver today. 93 was over $2.40. But we have NDP out here so it’s much worse than just the Liberal crisis #fatigue

    15. I just had some awesome poverty good.

Macaroni, Chicken cube, kettle water to taste, and whatever cheese you’ve got laying around. Made for a nice, soup mac cheese thing. Will add more water next time

In times of crisis like this, the government should put an excess profit tax on business’s until crisis ends, so if grocers for example raise money to make profit at the time inflation increases because of the war with oil. The government should tax all profit. (Not revenue) and put that back into the economy.

Again. The tax would be only on profit, and companies like Loblaws have been recording record profits for decades. They can stand a few years at 0% profit growth and being revenue neutral for a bit.

If Canadian food business’s have so much money to merge and buy their opponents to make monopolies and duopolies, they can stand to take a hair cut for half a decade.

Or we could break them all up, no more merges no more monopolies. Loblaw’s, METRO, ectect can be broken up into 25 different smaller business’s.

Carney should use his power and leverage and good will he still have to put these Corporations in their place before they start price gouging like they did during covid.

    17. The government is happy, more taxes at the gas station. Look at Europe, cutting down on taxes on energy!

    18. Ever since gas went up two weeks ago, I have stopped buying a coffee every morning to work.
