Well, Europe is more of a cultural & historical concept rather than a geographical one, but yeah, that tiny beat west of the Urals is inside of ‚geographical Europe‘.

    Geographically yes, not culturally.

I just don’t really care to be honest and I am confused that so many people do care so much about what’s Europe and what isn’t.

I’m more inclined to call Russia, Turkey, the South Caucasus and Kazakhstan just „Eurasian“ countries.

Eurasian countries west of Russia are „European“ and southern Eurasian countries are „Asian“.

It is a part of Europe, there is nothing to accept about it.

The border of Europe are the Ural Mountains and Ural River

I accept every division of Asia and Europe. It is just arbitrary.

    What is there to accept?

If it’s in the European subcontinent by definition, then it’s a part of Europe. It doesn’t really affect anything in my life.

People sometimes act like being considered European is a privilege or an honour.

I think the Ural River–Ural Mountains makes a better boundary than the Emba River–Ural Mountains, but I also think the Caucasus watershed makes a better boundary than the Kuma–Manych Depression, even though the latter aligns better with the classical use of the Don River (Tanaïs) as the Europe–Asia boundary.

  8. What do you mean „accept“?

It’s literally part of Europe, the borders are pretty clearly made by the scientific community, why do I have the right to face an opinion?

  9. It really depends on an answer to a important question: Do they get better ping playing on European servers or Asian? 😀

We should just get off the actual continents model and just say America, Africa, Eurasia, Antarctica and Oceania

    No, I do not.

The relevant bodies can designate it as being geographically part of Europe all they want.

  12. I’d much rather consider Georgia to be part of Europe than that Western section of Kazakhstan, but geographically speaking, yes. Culturally, absolutely not though.

  13. Sure, why not. Why is it a point of contention? The division between Europe and Asia is pretty arbitrary.

  14. Sure because that line is an extension of the Ural Mountains which traditionally formed the Europe/Asia border. The Caucasus mountains are another continent defining border.

  15. Europe as a cultural group of nations has always been a divisive topic and the definition of what is considered European or not has changed a lot over the centuries. Personally I wouldn’t consider Kazakhstan as European.

I used to live in Europe and work in Asia when I was in KZ. Had to cross the Ural river to get to work.

I also think that the OP’s map does not follow the Ural river correctly – the land shaded dark blue should go a bit further East.
