Given how many missions have been sent to this vicinity (including cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar), and how much attention has been spent looking at satellite images of the area, I’d be very surprised if a dude looking “closely” at Google Earth is a huge breakthrough is this mystery, but I could certainly be wrong.

Butterfly meme: oh wow, is this <Amelia Earhart’s plane>?

This was 4 years ago, has there been no update since then?

Apparent evidence of her crash (and even survival) has been found multiple times over the years, including pieces of a plane that match hers, and even women’s shoes and personal affects on a island in the vicinity of where they think she crashed. But for some reason people still want to say she hasn’t been found.

Everybody knows she was sent the Delta Quadrant and will be rescued by Captain Janeway and then never mentioned ever again.

I just realized that the day I was born is closer to her disappearance than today is to my own birth.

They be playing history’s longest hide and seek at this point coz every few years some or the other person finds her as if she’s a seasonal event

Robert Ballard of Titanic fame was there in 2019, with an entire team looking for evidence. They didn’t find any. And that was one of many explorations of this island specifically for Earhart. The most prolific wreck finder of our time found nothing conclusive.
But yes, some rando seeing a „line“ on google maps is definitely news worthy.

It’s very odd that this finding is from 2023 and being spammed as if it was new info by multiple websites with them referencing a „march 15th“ blog post without mention that its from 2023

Did you hear they just found Jimmy Hoffa using Pokémon GO?

Not so fun fact: Amelia Earhart didn’t get lost and ‚disappear.‘ She crashed and all her distress calls were just ignored by men.
>“Amelia Earhart did not simply vanish on July 2, 1937. Radio distress calls believed to have been sent from the missing plane dominated the headlines and drove much of the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy search,“ said Ric Gillespie. „When the search failed, all of the reported post-loss radio signals were categorically dismissed as bogus and have been largely ignored ever since,“ he added.
