May he rest in peace. 71 seems like a young age to go nowadays.

Great man. The voice of the GAA on RTE for so many years. RIP Michael.

Terrible news, a great servant of the GAA and public broadcaster. Had the pleasure of meeting him once and he was absolutely lovely.

Didn’t meet the guy but he drove past my gaff between rally stages years back. He gave me a wave and I remember running back inside to tell my parents. Must have been 30 odd years back. He was a massive rally enthusiast and handy enough by all accounts.

I remember him as a fresh faced young fellow hosting RTEs coverage of the Olympic games in Los Angeles in 1984. RIP Michael.

Jesus. I met him a few times through my dad, who passed away in 2024. I don’t claim i knew him, just found myself in his company a number of times between his retirement and the arrival of covid. I knew he had heart issues, but he always appeared so fresh to me, and younger than his years. RIP

If you met him as I did you wouldn’t think the same about him. Unfortunately I can’t say more than that…
