The circle of tech life: „We’ll never have ads“ → „We need to explore revenue options“ → „Ads will be minimal and tasteful“ → Full-screen pop-ups before your third prompt. Tale as old as Google.

    2. I don’t like ads but I guess I just don’t understand why people expect them to allow people to use their platform for free without ads to support it.

    3. I tried it for a bit. Couldn’t get correct answers or code that worked without a lot of iteration.

Being told “this will definitely work this time” 20 times in a row while still failing was when I gave up.

Deleted my account and won’t look back. Do your own thinking.

It’s either ads or subscription. These companies do not know anything else how to make money.

    5. It’s only a matter of time before they are taking money to make the responses biased.

    6. Aaaaaaaand this is why I never got into ANY of these chatbots and never will.

Eventually the paid plans will get ads too. Calling it now.

I’m sure they will share the revenue from ads with all the creators of the content that trained their LLMs. Right?

Not that I have a reason to use chat gpt in the first place. But damn is this a greedy move.

Now that everybody has taught the damn thing for free, time to get some money out of everyone to use the very same tool they helped create!!!

    10. I thought “Go users” were Go programmers lol. I was thinking of the ads scenario:

“Hey, write me this pure function to do X logic in y.go, also write unit tests”

“Got it! But before we implement this X function, let me first tell you about the new Netflix Super-Premium-Deluxe tier …”

Guess they’re feeling the loss of all those users who left because they struck a deal with the DoD

    12. Oh ffs.

Ads are exactly what ruined google search and why their business model is becoming more and more outdated by the day.

It’s already being integrated into ChatGPT?

What a fucking mess. Nobody yet knows what they’re doing and the enshittification is happening relatively early in the game.

    13. The last place in the AI race being the only one to add ads is a choice. Sounds desperate.

We have two authorized (paid-for, data privacy agreements in place) AIs at work for scripting assistance as part of our official use policy.

ChatGPT is not one of them.

They so desperately want to monetize everything…we build or help build for free and they turn it and make us pay to use what we help build. Ffs..rinse and repeat in all forms of corps..

    16. Okie dokie then … theres ads EVERYWHERE. We choose capitalism. This is what it looks like. More power to them. Theres other alternatives if this bothers you.

Stop using this trash. I guarantee you don’t need it and you won’t miss it.

    18. So one of the leading AI model developers is resorting to using ads for to reach profitablity. The same business model as a social media site.

If AI were so powerful and ready to take over so many jobs…. Why do they need ads?

After the military bullshit and everyone quitting for that, I hope this is the final nail.

Just stop using ai and you won’t have this problem.

„Why don’t you try simply reading a book

Or could you just not bear to look!

      You’ll get no commercials“
