Birds are terribly fragile creatures, you did what you could to help. We tried to save few birds here in Brussel and even fewer survived…
Please don’t put injured birds into aviaries. It probably used up the last of its energy or got stressed which moved things along quicker. Keep them in a dark box until they can get to the rehab.
Wing injury would likely have gotten worse from too much movement, to the point of not being fixable..
