What’s he going do, harrass people who can actually afford a ticket to fly on an airplane nowadays? That will for sure make him popular.

If it gets them off our streets and somewhere with lots of cameras I’m not going to stop him.

Because once you create a secret police force, you find all kinds of things to use them for.

“They are going to screen like we have never seen before”!

I hope they don’t assault travelers for forgetting to empty their pockets.

Who is going to train them or is it OJT.

IDK, is ICE capable of yelling „place your laptops in the basket“ a thousand times an hour?

  6. So he’s going to have them scab TSA jobs? this is such an incredibly horrible idea you know it came directly from Trump.

I was gonna say they aren’t trained for that work, but they aren’t trained for the work they’re already doing so… Half of one, six dozen of the other.

  8. Let him do it. This will destroy the Airlines. People will suffer and maybe the deep pockets will recognize they lost control of their dog.

There are over 50,000 TSA agents. There are 22,000 total ICE agents.

Even disregarding putting these aggressive and untrained buffoons into a tourist facing role… the math is not mathing.

  10. ICE at the immigrations checkpoint:

    Non-American passport? Straight to jail.

American passport? Believe it or not, also jail.

We have the best citizens in the world. Because of jail.

  11. To me the real takeaway from this statement is that Trump honestly does see ICE as his personal goon squad specifically meant to intimidate/harass/assault/kill his perceived enemies. In other words, his Nazi brownshirts.

  12. PLEASE GOD, YES!
It would suck for those at the other end of the stick, because the fascists ALWAYS overreach and having Proud Boys with neck tatoos and Federal badges cracking skulls at airport security would go a long way toward preventing the same thing at the midterm polls. Give them enough rope to hang themselves.

Basically admitting he’s been using ICE as a threatening force (obviously he has been the whole time). Not that anyone will care though.

The ICE Agents that aren’t trained to do their own job are now going to do other people’s jobs? Great idea. 👍

  15. If you think their lack of training was bad doing immigration enforcement, just wait until they aren’t trained to make the planes fly on time.

  16. I don’t know if having untrained thugs beat up travelers for fun is a good way to get the public on your side but what do I know

Everybody should be contacting their representatives, employing them to call his bluff on this and let him do exactly that. This is a strategical error that will backfire spectacularly in showing the rest of the world exactly what has been going on in Minnesota. Oh wow if you think international tourism is bad right now in the United States just wait until he has masked agents harassing anybody even where near a shade of cappuccino trying to move around in the airport. Such an embarrassment.

I guess when all you have is a wildly incompetent personal goon squad, every public policy obstacle starts to look like a brown person shopping at Home Depot.

  19. For many, ICE is still a boogeyman that you only hear about. Expect mayhem to break lose at airports if people can now easily come face to face and give a piece of their mind to agents killing fellow citizens in the street.
